Relief will reach all victims, says Rosaiah

Moving on the updates on the rains in the state..the relief provided by the State government would reach all the victims of rain that battered several districts, Chief Minister K.Rosaiah on Thursday cautioned officials against possible misuse of the aid. After completing his whirlwind tour of East Godavari district to assess the damage.
Mr. Rosaiah, while addressing a review meeting with officials and elected representatives, announced that 20 kg of rice and five litres of kerosene each would be distributed to all the 94,879 families that were affected by the rain.
CM Rosaiah, who undertook an aerial survey and visited a photo exhibition conducted by the district administration on the havoc wreaked by rain, said that it was unfortunate that thousands of farmers lost their crop that was about to reach their homes in a couple of days. He said that the government was keen on lending a helping hand to the poor, for whom daily labour was the only source of income.
When a few MLAs tried to assess the loss and sought an increase in the compensation, Mr. Rosaiah reacted sharply and stated that distribution on the lines of annasatram' was not at all possible.
This is not the first of its kind calamity, as we have seen many such calamities. This is time to recollect the response from various governments to the disasters and the packages being announced by them, he pointed out. Talking about the loss assesment, Rosaiah said that he had tried his best to ensure completion of loss assessment by the Central teams at the earliest, but it was not possible due to the procedure.
The teams will visit the State in response to the reports sent by us, he said. District Collector M. Ravi Chandra briefed Mr. Rosaiah about the loss. Union Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju, Ministers Botsa Satyanarayana, Dharmana Prasada Rao, Pilli Subhash Chandrabose, Pinipe Viswarup and others were present.
