The regional weather office on Friday sounded a cyclone alert to parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, with a deep depression over southeast Bay of Bengal now intensifiying into a cyclonic storm. JAL lay centered about1100 km southeast of Visakhapatnam would intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm.

The system would move west-northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts by November 7 evening or night, the weather office said. The storm will bring rain or thundershowers at most places with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over south coastal Andhra Pradesh from this morning, it said.
