Praja Rajyam Party president K. Chiranjeevi has urged the government to extend all possible help to tenant farmers, who bore the brunt of heavy rain for over a week, in East Godavari district. Commencing his tour in the upland areas of the district on Sunday, Mr. Chiranjeevi promised to take up the cause of tenant farmers with the government.

After going round the rain-hit areas in Kakinada, he visited Gollaprolu and V.K. Rayapuram in Pithapuram mandal and met the tenant farmers. Speaking to them individually, the PRP chief said that his party had raised their problems in the Assembly and would strive to get a fair deal for them. Attributing the overflowing of the drains and canals and submergence of standing crop to encroachments, he urged the government to initiate stern action against persons responsible.
