Appointment orders issued to 22,231 SGTs
The State government has completed the counselling process for filling all the notified Secondary Grade Teacher posts under DSC-2008 and issued appointment orders to 22,231 candidates. Minister for Secondary Education D. Manikya Varaprasad said the DSC-2008 recruitment was done as per the Supreme Court guidelines.
Of the 27,065 candidates provisionally selected, 2,275 could not attend the counselling and they would be given another opportunity on November 23. Meanwhile, appointment orders could not be issued to 2,505 candidates who were provisionally selected for want of vacancies. They would be appointed as and when the district-wise vacancies arose, in about three to six months.
The minister said nowhere in the country, a State government had appointed over 50,000 teachers at one go. The State was also first in the country to maintain a teacher pupil ratio of 1:30 in accordance with the Right to Education Act.
