The agitation by advocates for establishment of a High Court Bench between Guntur and Vijayawada continued on Tuesday. The relay hunger strike and abstention of courts is going on with consistent support from the TDP, Praja Rajyam, BJP and Left parties. They have strongly criticized the Government for complicating the issue by linking it up with the prevailing situation in the State. The advocates have revived the decades-old agitation for HC Bench in late September but the Government has since not spoken much except that this is not the time for raising the demand.

The Government has subsequently advised them to wait till Justice Srikrishna submitted his report by December 31, 2010 in spite of the argument that the demand has nothing to do with the proposed statehood for Telangana and its fallout on the law and order scenario. There has since been no respite in the agitation as nothing significant was done by the Government for an amicable settlement of the issue.
