Nurses protest continue at MGM

The protest by nurses who had climbed up an overhead water tank at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, Warangal, has intensified on Tuesday. The demonstrating nurses demanded the state government to set a deadline to regularize their services. The nurses' agitation continued even as minister for medical education P Sudarshan Reddy assured them that the government would look into their demands.

14 nurses, who are working on contract basis at MGM Hospital, climbed the water tank on the hospital premises, and threatened to end their lives if the government failed to meet their demands. Sudarshan Reddy assured them that the government would consider their demand for regularization of services during the recruitment which will be conducted for 1,592 nurse posts. On other hand, Services in the hospital have been affected, and hapless patients are being forced to head towards private hospitals for treatment.
