Rosaiah orders repairs to roads on war-footing

The Government will immediately take up work on a war-footing to restore damaged roads in 13 rain-hit districts, at least temporarily.Reviewing the progress of restoration works in these districts with Ministers and officials here on Friday, Chief Minister K. Rosaiah said that since the cost of undertaking permanent repair to all roads was Rs. 1,000 crore, the officials should seek funds from World Bank, RIDF, NABARD etc if the internal adjustments were found to be inadequate.
He said the condition of many roads in the rain-hit areas was very bad and directed the departments to swing into action without any further delay. They should undertake the repair works with their own funds, pending assistance expected from the Union Government.
