Nehru Zoo to rescue croc
The efforts to net the crocodile trapped in a cellar trench at Nanakramguda continued on Friday. The forest officials used motors to pump out water from the cellar into a nearby lake.On Friday, the rescue operation was handed over to the Nehru Zoological Park authorities by the wildlife wing of the forest department.
The anti-poaching squad forest range officer, Mr Raja Ramana Reddy, said, they are going to use two more pumps in addition to the existing four. We expect to pump out all the water by Saturday evening. The trench is very deep. Therefore, it is taking time to pump out all the water. They are not feeding the crocodile anymore as there are fish and frogs in the trench water, and the reptile is feeding on them. It can survive without food for days, Mr Reddy added.
