The Telugu Desam Party on Saturday took a serious view of Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao's comments on strengthening the Congress.The party felt the remarks confirmed the TDP's claim that the TRS president was involved in a match-fixing with the Congress leadership.

The TDP polit bureau, which met here under the chairmanship of N. Chandrababu Naidu, discussed the efforts of the Congress and the TRS to weaken the party and the fallout of Mr. Rao's statement. The polit bureau discussed the problems faced by farmers, atrocities committed by the micro finance institutions and the dharna staged by Chief Minister K. Rosaiah.

The TDP had called upon people who secured MFI loans not to repay until the State and the Central governments come out with a regulatory mechanism to check the loot.

Mr. Naidu ridiculed the government's claim that 13,000 flood-affected farmers were insured when lakhs of them suffered severe damage. The government was imposing massive cuts in the welfare schemes in the name of reviews and Cabinet sub-committees.
