Cops foil bid to storm HM home

The Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee activists on Tuesday tried to storm the residences of the home minister, Ms P. Sabita Indra Reddy, at Srinagar Colony and Mr S. Jaipal Reddy at Jubilee Hills, but were foiled by the police and arrested.
The activists were protesting against the recruitment exams for sub-inspectors and the Free Zone issue. Banjara Hills assistant commissioner of police, Mr Ravinder Reddy, confirmed that 33 activists were arrested as a preventive measure when they staged a sit-out near the residences of the home minister and Union minister.
They were released in the evening. Police had to resort to a mild caning at Goshamahal stadium where the activists had been taken after being arrested. President of the Telangana Front, Gaddar, condemned the caning of the students and demanded the government withdraw the orders that make Hyderabad a free zone.
