A day of hectic activity in Congress

As many as 12 legislators did not attend the emergency Congress Legislature Party meeting which passed a unanimous resolution requesting AICC president, Sonia Gandhi to name the new CLP leader in the wake of Chief Minister K. Rosaiah's resignation on Wednesday.
Kadapa MP, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, his mother Y.S. Vijayamma, MLA were conspicuous by their absence . In all 142 MLAs and 49 MLCs attended the meeting. Earlier, AICC leaders Pranab Mukherjee, Ghulam Nabi Azad, A.K. Antony and M. Veerappa Moily arrived here by a special aircraft and proceeded to Lakeview Guest House, where they were closeted with Mr. Rosaiah and APCC president D. Srinivas.
They were believed to have discussed the directions given by Ms. Gandhi and the strategy to be adopted at the meeting Meanwhile, a group of Congress MLAs close to the Kadapa MP, Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy met at the residence of Y. V. Subba Reddy, uncle of the MP and took stock of the political situation.
It is understood that they decided against raising their voice regarding selection of the new Chief Minister.
