Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy is the second Chief Minister hailing from Chittoor district, the first CM from the same region was TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu. He was first elected to the state Legislative Assembly from Vayalpadu constituency of Chittoor district in 1989. Reddy was born and brought up in Hyderabad.

After K Rosaiah submitted his resignation to Governor ESL Narasimhan, Kiran Kumar Reddy was seen as the first choice to the Congress High Command to succeed as the Chief Minister for the state.

Reddy is the 16th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and was elected as Speaker of the 13th state Assembly. Supporters and Fans of Kiran Kumar Reddy celebrated his election as the Chief Minister. Kiran Kumar Reddy was born on September 13th, 1960, in Hyderabad, He was born to former Congress party minister N Amarnath Reddy and hails from Chittoor district.

He did his schooling from Hyderabad Public school and intermediate from St. Josephs' Junior College. Later he completed his BCom from Nizams college and LLB from Osmania University. He was first elected to Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Vayalpadu constituency of Chittoor district in 1989.

Though he tasted defeat in the 1994 elections, he was again elected to the Assembly in 1999 and 2004. He also contested from Piler segment successfully in 2009 polls. During the rule of the late chief minister, Y S Rajasekhar Reddy from 2004 to 2009, Reddy functioned as Government Chief Whip with cabinet minister's status.

After the 2009 elections, he was elected Speaker, though he was expecting a cabinet berth. Reddy was also a star cricketer in the Nizam College team, Osmania University Team, South Zone under 22 and captain of the under-25 hyderabad team. Former Indian cricket star Mohammed Azharuddin and Actor Balakrishna are his good friends.
