Chiru keeps off Cabinet
Abashed by its own eagerness to rush into the Congress embrace, the Praja Rajyam on Monday decided not to join the Kiran Kumar Reddy Cabinet which will take oath on Wednesday. However, it did not close the option.
Praja Rajyam sources said the party president, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, was hopeful of closing the deal when things are in better shape. Mr Chiranjeevi held an emergency meeting with legislators and party important leaders to discuss the implications of joining the government following an offer made by the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Sunday night.
Sources said Mr Chiranjeevi was of the view that the party joining the Cabinet in the backdrop of the resignation of the Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, would send the wrong signals.
