Jagan quits as Congress MP, Mother resigns as MLA

In a body blow to Congress party in state, Kadapa MP Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy finally quit party, on Monday. Along with Jagan, His mother Vijayalakshmi, MLA from Pulivendula constituency, has also resigned from state Assembly.

The MP sent his resignation letter to AICC President Sonia Gandhi. His Five-page resignation letter claimed that there was politics against him from his own party. And, Jagan has also faxed a one-line letter to Lok Sabha Speaker, Meira Kumar, tendering his resignation.

Creating a major twist in state politics, son of former Chief Minister YS Rajashekhara Reddy, Jaganmohan Reddy resigned from, Congress party, Kadapa MP post on Monday. Later, Jagans mother Vijayamma also submitted her resignation, from her MLA post.

On the other hand, He made a strategic move in giving a call to the MLAs, supporting him not to resign from the party. Mr. Reddy wrote an open letter to AICC president Sonia Gandhi, informing her about his decision and expressing anguish, at what he called attempts of the party leaders to isolate and expel him.

Jagan had listed out attempts to legacy of his father, former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, as some of the reasons which had "forced" him to take the decision. Copies of the letters were faxed to the media.

It is expected that Jaganmohan Reddy, may announce the launch of his own political party in coming days. Signals emerging from the Jagan camp in Hyderabad, indicate that the rebel MP is likely to float his own party.

Sources close to Jagan reported that Youth Sramik Ryot (YSR), is likely to be the name of the new political outfit. According to sources, some of the details such as the party office in Jubilee Hills and a tentative launch date of Dec.

9 have even been worked out. Battle lines seem to have been drawn between the Congress high command and Jagan Mohan Reddy with strong indications coming that the Kadapa MP has no intention of falling in line.

And as a contingency measure, the Congress moved to secure the support of Praja Rajyam Party of K Chiranjeevi, in case if numbers are needed, for the party in state Assembly.
