Tourism Minister Vatti Vasant Kumar, who created a flutter by resigning from the Cabinet and Assembly late on Wednesday night, relented to some extent. The Minister, who is sulking over the allocation of a portfolio with lesser importance, withdrew his resignation from the Assembly and informed Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar accordingly.

Mr. Vasant Kumar kept the decision on whether or not to continue in the Cabinet pending and did not attend the first meeting of the Council of Ministers on Thursday.While other Ministers expressed their resentment over not being given appropriate Cabinet berths, Mr. Vasant Kumar went ahead and quit.

Mr. Vasant Kumar, in a press release issued in the afternoon, said he would meet the AICC president shortly to explain her about the circumstances under which he had to resign from the Cabinet.
