Colourful start to Kartheeka Brahmotsavam
The annual Kartheeka Brahmotsavams' got off to a colourful start at Sri Padmavathi Ammavari temple in Tiruchanur on Thursday. As the goddess is also called Alamelu Mangamma', the temple and the township around it is still referred to in some circles by its ancient name, Alamelu Mangapuram'.
According to mythology, hoisting of the flag heralds the onset of festive season and is considered an invitation to the three crore demi-gods and celestial beings.The temple reverberated with Vedic chants and ecstatic calls of devotees. Thousands of devotees converged at the temple to witness the grand gala event.
