Bar Council urges Kiran for action on HC benches
The Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh has requested Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to look into the demand for setting up a High Court bench and give a positive assurance for setting up a bench for Coastal and Rayalaseema districts. In a letter on Sunday, Bar Council chairman A. Narasimha Reddy stated that the demand for establishment of HC bench outside Hyderabad was more than 40 years old and several agitations have been taken up in Coastal and Rayalaseema regions.
The advocates had boycotted courts for more than four months in 1993, he recollected. The State should realise that constitution of additional benches would help in speedy disposal of cases and provide relief to litigants. He suggested the State to take immediate steps to set up a bench outside Hyderabad and help create an atmosphere to make courts a preferred way of resolving disputes.
