Welfare schemes will continue in spite of tight finances, says Chief Minister

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday said the State exchequer suffered a loss of Rs. 6,000 crore on account of agitations for and against bifurcation of the State in the recent times. The Chief Minister made this observation while highlighting the tight fiscal condition of the State. However, his government would continue to implement all the welfare schemes, he asserted.
In a remark that raised some eyebrows, he drew parallels between Telangana and Rayalseema regions. Addressing his maiden public meeting, Mr. Reddy used the platform to reiterate his resolve to continue the schemes launched by YSR, including Rachabanda', a programme which was put on the backburner. He also laid the foundation stone for two electricity sub stations and distributed house site pattas to 2,664 beneficiaries.
