A.K. Khan reviews security situation following blast in Varanasi

The government sounded a high alert in the State capital following an explosion at a holy town of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Hyderabad Police Commissioner A.K. Khan reviewed the security situation with Deputy Commissioners of Zones and instructed them to intensify patrolling in all areas.
Security was strengthened at religious places. Central Zone DCP, Akun Sabharwal, personally visited Venkateswara temple at Adarshanagar and directed the security personnel to be vigilant about movement of strangers in the vicinity. The North Zone DCP, Y. Nagi Reddy, checked the American Consulate area in Begumpet.
The Hyderabad police had already deployed additional forces in the city in the backdrop of Babri masjid demolition anniversary on Monday and continued the security arrangements.
