TRS postpones 'Maha Garjana' in Warangal

Heavy rains for the past two days have forced the Telangana Rashtra Samiti to postpone its public meeting scheduled for today, in Warangal district. The party was scheduled to hold its 'Maha Garjana' rally to mark the completion of one year of the center's statement on the formation of a separate state of Telangana. The rally will now be held on 16, this month.
The TRS was expecting around 2.5 million people to attend the massive show of strength ahead of the submission of the report by Srikrishna committee, constituted by the centre to look into the Telangana issue. Heavy rains since Tuesday have badly affected the arrangements made for the meeting, with the 1,000 acre ground at Hanamkonda being reduced to slush. TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao said the meeting would serve an ultimatum to the centre on the issue.
