MRPS steps down agitation
A day after the expiry of the deadline set by Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti, its activists stepped up the agitation demanding a commitment by the State government to lead a delegation to New Delhi seeking categorisation of Scheduled Castes.
The indefinite hunger strike by MRPS president Manda Krishna arrested late in the night. Mr. Krishna's health showed signs of deterioration as his blood sugar rose and blood pressure dropped. About 35 MRPS workers were arrested by the police in two separate incidents, one of which resulted in high tension at the Secretariat.
