Telugu Desam Party president and leader of the Opposition in the Assembly N. Chandrababu Naidu has vowed to highlight the woes of the cyclone-hit farmers on the floor of the House and mount pressure on the government for initiating urgent steps to provide succour to them.

Mr Naidu made a whirlwind tour of the cyclone affected areas in Dameracharla and Miryalaguda mandals on Thursday. The distressed farmers narrated their tale of misery to Mr. Naidu who visited the cyclone-hit areas in the district en route to Guntur district.

Mr. Naidu walked through the muddy agriculture fields to assess the extent of crop damage at Kothagudem village in Miryalaguda mandal. Mr. Naidu disbursed Rs. 10,000 to the kin of the deceased farmer as an interim relief and announced further financial aid from the party fund.
