Colourful start to Krishnadevaraya fete
The three-day concluding festival of the 500th coronation celebrations of Sri Krishnadevaraya began on a grand note on Friday. Participating as chief guest Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, who spoke in Telugu, dwelt upon the glorious contribution of Sri Krishnadevaraya who brought the Telugu people under one umbrella. His reign ushered in prosperity, literary development and cultural renaissance in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Krishnadevaraya never interfered with religious beliefs of people and among the literary feats of the emperor was the famous Amukthamalyada and other books. Mr. Narasimhan went around the venue to have a look at the stalls set up by the Department of Horticulture, Archaeology and the TTD.
