Karat visits fasting CBN, calls for more aid to AP farmers

CPM general secretary Prakash Karat on Saturday met TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on the second day of his indefinite hunger strike launched to demand enhanced aid for rain-hit farmers and artisans in the state.
Expressing solidarity with Naidu, Karat demanded that the government immediately enhance relief for farmers who were suffering untold misery this season.
Government doctors conducted tests on the fasting former chief minister on Saturday afternoon and reported that his blood pressure and sugar levels were normal. Thousands of TDP workers, farmers and common people visited the fast site and expressed their solidarity.
