AA

Overflowing rivers continued to disrupt normal life in at least nine districts for the third consecutive day on Sunday leaving 10 persons dead and thousands homeless. While the Godavari crossed danger levels at Bhadrachalam and Dowleswaram, the Central Water Commission forecast indicated that the waters are likely to recede by today. Hundreds of villages have been inundated and some of them were even cut off due to incessant rains. While 68,241 people in 400 villages have been affected by the rains and floods, 14,508 were evacuated to safer places.A Chief Ministers Office press release stated that Mr Rosaiah was keen that communication and road networks were restored at the soonest so that more men and material could be dispatched to the affected areas. As part of the rescue and relief operations, officials have deployed seven launches, eight boats and six other vehicles.
