The stage is set for Justice B.N. Srikrishna Committee to submit its report to the Central government today. The committee is likely to submit its report to Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram some time , a day ahead of its deadline of December 31, as Mr. Chidambaram is scheduled to visit Arunachal Pradesh on Friday.

Committee member-secretary V.K. Duggal said the committee had sent a note to the Union Home Ministry about its preparedness on Wednesday. The panel members are unlikely to make the contents of the report public as it was for the Union Home Ministry to take a decision on the issue.

Accordingly, the Union Home Ministry and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry are said to have initiated efforts to designate senior officials to make a detailed study of the report and release the contents to public.

Meanwhile the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry had asked the media, news channels in particular, to observe restraint in broadcasting speculative stories, the given the sensitive issues involved in the report.
