The Telugu Desam Party's 'Rythu Kosam' public meeting to be held at Brahmananda Reddy stadium in guntur today, which comes at a time when a growing number of rain-hit farmers are ending their lives. Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu and the top brass of 10 political parties are attending the meeting which is meant to exert pressure on the government to announce an enhanced relief package and more importantly, knit a coalition of sorts on the farmers issues.

The tdp leaders will pass a resolution putting forth a fresh set of demands on procurement of damaged crops, minimum support prices and rescheduling of loans for farmers. The TDP leaders are working overtime to make the event a grand success as former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, Prakash Karat, A.B. Bardhan, Ajit Singh, Om Prakash Chautala, Sharad Yadav and others are expected to throw their weight behind Mr. Chandrababu Naidu in his fight for the farmers' welfare.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. Senior TDP leaders Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Garikapati Mohan Rao and Nandamuri Harikrishna have personally supervised arrangements at the venue which is situated near NTR bus station. A 100 x 40 x 8 foot stage has been erected and other facilities are provided in the sprawling sporting ground which can accommodate 20,000 in the galleries and thousands more in the open arena.

The families of farmers who committed suicides in all districts, Guntur in particular, have been requested to attend the meeting and narrate their tales to the politicians who vowed to fight their battle in Delhi.
