Thousands visit Tirumala temple

Lord Venkateswara temple witnessed a huge crowd of pilgrims on Saturday for the New Year's Day. The temple doors were thrown open for darshan of the Lord at 1.30 a.m. By 3.00 p.m., the temple administration cleared a staggering rush of over 60,000 pilgrims.
Briefing the media persons, the Tirumala-based Joint Executive Officer K. Bhaskar said by the end of the day, over one lakh devotees would be having the darshan of the presiding deity.
The entire temple complex was colourfully illuminated with serial lamps and tastefully decorated with flowers and festoons.Police and staff were posted on special duty to ensure hassle-free darshan.
