Gangster-politician Suryanarayana Reddy alias Maddelachervu Suri, a key accused in former TDP MLA Paritala Ravi's murder, died in Appollo Hospital, after being shot at by unidentified assailants shot him on Monday. The shooting took place at Road No.13 in the Jubilee Hills area in the city. According to information , at least 5 rounds were fired from close range and 2 bullets pierced through Suri's body.

The doctors had given him slim chances right from the time he was admitted. The police suspect followers of Paritala Ravi to be behind the attack. The driver of the car, was being interrogated by the police. Considering that the murderer was travelling with him in his own car, the police assume that the attack and murder were planned by his own followers.

The police suspect the planning was happening at, the Cherlapally jail since 45 days. Apollo Hospital was being guarded tightly, with the CISF also being pressed into action. Paritala Ravi, a former minister and leader of the state's main opposition TDP, was gunned down in Anantapur town Jan 24, 2005, allegedly by the followers of Suri.
