Curbs imposed on media meets

The Deputy Speaker, Mr Nadendla Manohar, who had a meeting with Whips of all Legislature parties in the Assembly, on Monday, decided to impose curbs on the movement of both media & visitors in the precincts of Assembly buildings and Assembly Hostels. It was decided to dispense with the Media Point, where leaders from different parties address the electronic media on different subjects.
However, the BJP MLA, Mr G. Kishen Reddy, objected to the restrictions and told him that removing the media point without providing an alternative would be meaningless. But Mr Manohar insisted that all political parties could organise media meets at their respective party offices. He told them that the media point will be operationalized whenever the Assembly is in session.
