Meeting convened to share Srikrishna report: Chidambaram

Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram has said that the meeting of eight recognised political parties convened in New Delhi on January 6 was aimed at sharing the report of the Justice B.N. Srikrishna Committee with them.
He said that the committee was appointed following the meeting of the eight political parties on January 5, 2010. He was responding to a letter addressed by Communist Party of India State secretary K. Narayana seeking release of report ahead of the meeting so that political parties could come prepared to the deliberations. He said if the report was sent to the political parties in advance, it was possible that one might receive it earlier and one later, leading to criticism.
Appealing the political parties to attend the meeting, he said the Government would share the report and thereafter, could discuss the future course of action.
