State interests will be protected- Kiran

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has assured a delegation of Krishna Delta Parirakshana Samiti that the government would fully protect the State's interests and would file an appeal on the award given by Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal. He said the government would convene an all-party meeting and elicit the opinion of all sections of people on the issue.
The Samiti representatives, including leaders of the Congress, CPI(M), CPI, PRP and farmers' organisations called on Mr. Reddy and submitted a memorandum urging the government to initiate steps to protect the farming community of the State.
While the previous Bachawat Tribunal adopted 75 per cent dependability principle to assess the quality of assured water, Brajesh Kumar unfortunately adopted 65 per cent dependability by considering the flow series for only 47 years, which was not proper.
