Former minister Jeevan Reddy appealed to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, to stand by the promise made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on December 9th, 2009, on the Telangana statehood issue. The former minister said that the commissions' recommendations were not acceptable to Telangana people.

He said that the Congress would lose Telangana people's confidence if it failed to respect the sentiments and aspirations of Telangana people. Later, The leaders also demanded that the government lifted curbs on the media regarding covering the aftermath on the Srikrishna Report
