Khan appeals for peaceful protests
AA

Commissioner of Police A.K. Khan has appealed to students of Osmania University to protest peacefully and saying the police have been observing extreme restraint in controlling the agitations for the last two days. He said the policemen were instructed not to use to excessive force at any stage.

Referring to incidents of policemen returning stones hurled by students, Mr. Khan said action would be initiated against such policemen. Except in the case of a law student, Ravi Kumar, who suffered a pellet injury on abdomen on Thursday, no other student was seriously injured when police used tear gas shells, rubber bullets and buck shots on the campus.

But, the Commissioner remarked, some persons were trying to trigger tension by circulating bulk text messages stating Kumar's condition was critical.
