Osmania University campus remained tense for the third consecutive day on Saturday with students taking out rallies and pelting stones at police while TRS Member of Parliament Vijayashanti was arrested for trying to enter the campus.

Despite the stone-pelting incidents, police hoped peace would return to the campus, at least for now, with students leaving for their homes for Sankranti vacation. Tension began to build on the campus when a group of students rushed onto the Manikeshwarinagar road from university guest house side, hurling stones at the policemen.

Another batch went in a procession to Osmania University police station and staged a sit-in urging the police to leave the campus. However, police chased them away resulting in another spell of stone pelting.
