The Telugu News Broadcasters Association has urged the Police Commissioner to allow the media to report protests and agitations in the city, particularly in the Osmania University area, in a manner that viewers expect from a responsible news broadcaster. The restrictions imposed on the media were unilateral and unwarranted'.

Further the police action was undemocratic and against the spirit of freedom of press, the TNBA said in a letter addressed to the Police Commissioner in the city on Monday. A majority of the TNBA members were not members of the NBA and therefore its guidelines were not binding on them. Moreover, the guidelines were unilateral and not arrived at after consultations with the Telugu news broadcasters.
