Alleging that the central and the state governments are involved in scams worth thousands of crores of rupees, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said that the money could have been spent on schemes for the welfare of the poor and the downtrodden.

Talking to media persons after participating in the `Rythukosam rally at Tadepalligudem in the West Godavari district, the former chief minister alleged that scams have become a part of the congress' rule. Naidu said that the ministers and leaders of both the centre and state governments are looting the public, and that they had failed to give any solace to the people of the country.

He charged the government of having failed to check the prices of essential commodities. Babu will hold a tour in Krishna district today and console a few rain hit farmers in the region.
