A thief struck at an Automated Teller Machine centre of the State Bank of Hyderabad at Dhobighat in Saidabad on Sunday night and escaped with Rs.20 lakh. According to police, the ATM centre with two machines was located adjacent to the bank. Wearing a cap, the intruder entered the centre around 12.25 a.m. on Saturday and opened its outer door with a screw driver.

The inner door actually has an electronic lock facility which opens after entering the password. The bank officials, who deposited cash, failed to lock it properly. The intruder's act was caught in the surveillance cameras installed in the ATM centre. Police officials on Monday released the intruder's photographs and requested the general public to alert them if they found him.
