Police have registered cases against Bhanu Kiran, the prime accused in Gangula Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri's murder, and Telugu film producer Singanamala Ramesh for allegedly threatening a woman Jayanthi Reddy. While unconfirmed reports said Bhanu was detained in Mumbai on Monday, police denied the reports saying a manhunt was still on to nab him.
Jayanthi, a resident of Jubilee Hills, lodged a complaint with the Central Crime Station police stating that Ramesh and Bhanu took her along with her family members to Balaji Colour Lab in Filmnagar and threatened to kill them for asking them to repay Rs.7 crore she had lent them, officials said. As the producer was a family friend, Jayanthi's family mortgaged property in a bank and lent him the money. When bank officials started exerting pressure on them, Jayanthi requested Ramesh to return the money at the earliest.
