Police in Bengaluru on Thursday arrested actor Yamuna from a five-star hotel for her alleged involvement in a prostitution racket. Yamuna has acted in a few Telugu and Tamil films and serials. A prominent software company proprietor was also among the arrested.

Police sources confirmed the arrests of Yamuna, and an agent by name Surakshit, a native of Puttur near Mangalore. Both were produced before a magistrate. A senior police official said that the accused had been using online banking for payments and most of the contacts are through e-mail.

The raid was carried out by the Women and Narcotics Squad of Bengalurus City Crime Branch with the assistance of Cubbon Park police. This is the first time that the CCB has raided a five-star hotel and cops say the racket is spread across the country.
