* CM hands over Smart cards to women at Maheswaram

The Aadhar smart card scheme, which was launched in the Maheshwaram mandal of Ranga Reddy district on friday, is said to be the first of its kind in the country. The card serves as a multi-utility card. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy launched the issue of the Aadhar card, which uses biometric authentication, to the poor.

The objective of the government was to ensure that eligible persons get the right entitlement without any diversions, as illegal withdrawal by others would not be possible. This is an innovative proposition which guarantees the withdrawl of essential commodities by the beneficiaries. Above all, it entails transparency in the ration distribution and the display of stocks status.
