50 p.c. women to be fielded in local body polls: Kiran

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy stated that he had come to the district to fulfil the last wish of former Chief Minister late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who died in plane crash while going to attend Rachabanda' programme.
The Chief Minister, who arrived in Garladinne mandal to participate in Rachabanda' programme said the Women's Reservation Bill would alter gender scales and even unseat about 180 sitting MPs, which is why, it had become a matter of concern to many men who are in active politics.
Referring to the development in Anantapur, he said the district, which earlier occupied 20th place in economic status of the average citizen, now improved its position to fifth place due to economic growth through promotion of horticulture plantations spread over 1 lakh acres.
