TDP plans stir in Delhi on ryots' issues

The Telugu Desam Party has decided to stage a demonstration in New Delhi on February 8 seeking concrete steps by the Central government to redress the problems faced by farmers. The TDP would mobilise farmers from the three regions for the demonstration and it had tentatively decided to request for three special trains to take them to New Delhi.

TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu would lead the dharna demanding that the Centre implement recommendations made by the National Commission on Farmers headed by M.S. Swaminathan which wanted the government to decide the minimum support price on the basis of one-and-half times the cost of cultivation incurred by the farmers.

CPI (M) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu and CPI State secretary K. Narayana were present at the meeting which resolved to agitate till remedial steps to rescue the lower and middle classes were initiated.
