Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has set a one week deadline to the government to release Rs. 312 crore towards loan waiver and resolve the grievances of the handloom weavers.

Addressing a public meeting at Bhoodhan Pochampalli on Monday night, KCR said that the party activists would lay siege to the National Highway-9 on February 9 if the government failed to come to the rescue of the handloom weavers and implement its earlier assurance to provide Rs. 312 crore loan waiver to the distressed handloom weavers.

If the government continues to remain insensitive towards the woes of the misery stricken handloom weavers, the party would observe a bandh in the entire Telangana to champion the cause of the weavers, he said. Separate Telangana alone holds the key to alleviate the sufferings of the weavers, he said.
