Action against Cong veteran imminent for anti-Sonia remarks

Congress on Wednesday made it clear that action against defiant party veteran G Venkatswamy was imminent because of his sudden outburst against party chief Sonia Gandhi. Venkatswamy, a Congress Working Committee member and former Union minister, had called for Sonia's resignation as party chief for allegedly not pushing the Telangana cause.
"The party has taken note of Venkatswamy's comments; he has lost his mental balance," Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said at a news briefing. He said appropriate action would be taken against the veteran in due course.
However, hinting at his readiness to regret his words, Venkatswamy, according to news agencies, said he was willing to take back his remarks against Sonia.
