Minister Botcha talks tough on tuition fee

The State government has warned that the representatives of college managements are liable for arrest if they even ask tuition fee from students who are admitted.
This was stated by Transport Minister Botcha Satyanarayana within hours of the announcement by followers of rebel Congress leader Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy that he would stage a protest in the city on February 18 against what they called the government's callous attitude in disbursement of tuition fee.
Mr. Satyanarayana said engineering college managements had admitted eligible students on the condition that the government would remit their fee. Explaining reasons for the delay in paying fee in respect of over 12 lakh out of 24.5 lakh eligible students, the Minister maintained that the fault lay with the managements as they had failed to forward the applications received by these students to the government for processing.
