Move to bring TTD temples under ASI to be reviewed

* Land within 100-metre radius around the monument will become prohibited area'
* 200-metre area outside the 100-metre radius will be declared regulated area'
The TTD had to beat a quick retreat with regard to its decision to bring into the ambit of the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) all its temples including the Tirumala temple of Lord Venkateswara and get them declared as protected monuments'. Apparently stung by the developments, TTD Executive Officer, I.Y.R. Krishna Rao has on Saturday convened a press conference and declared that the Specified Authority scheduled to meet on September 11 would review the whole move and take a re-look at it in the wake of the criticism. He however asserted that Specified Authority's decision to keep the temples under the ASI's ambit was only in view of the urgent need to preserve in tact.
