* Overwhelming response in spite of bandh call given by Telangana JAC

The Congress Members of Parliament sprang a surprise by raising the slogans of Jai Telangana and demanding the government to abide by December 9, 2009 statement on the formation of separate Telangana state during the conduct of Rachabanda programme in front of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar in Malharrao mandal in Karimnagar district on Thursday. Addressing the mammoth gathering, Peddapalli MP G. Vivekanand started his speech by raising slogan of Jai Telangana amid cheers and response from the audience.

He demanded that the government should abide by December 9, 2009 statement on the formation of separate Telangana state to fulfil the aspirations of the people of the region. Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy said that they would abide by whatever decision the Union government takes on the Telangana statehood issue.
