State-JAC talks fail

Talks between the State government and leaders of the Telangana Joint Action Committee of Employees, Teachers and Workers failed on Saturday with the latter resolving to go ahead with its 'non-cooperation movement' in support of separate Telangana from February 17. Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy and Chief Secretary S.V. Prasad held negotiations with the JAC representatives led by K. Swamy Goud and appealed to them to call off their proposed agitation.
The Minister said the non-cooperation by the employees would hit the welfare and developmental programmes in the region. JAC leaders however, rejected the plea and said they were firm on going ahead with the protest.
