Alleging that the sanctity of Sri Trikoteswara Swamy temple atop Kotappakonda, was being vitiated due to some activities done in blatant violation of temple traditions, The Telugu Desam Party has launched Padayatra in Guntur district, on Sunday. The party leaders vented their ire over the officials, on the reconstruction of the statue of Lord Amara Lingeswara Swamy.
Earlier, the statue was ruined due to the vagaries of nature. The party cadre led by Ex-Minister Kodela Shiva Prasad Rao & MP Venugopal Reddy, staged yatra from Narsarao Peta to Kottappa Konda shrine. The representatives demanded the temple management to rectify the faults, as soon as possible. They also challenged the Endowment Department officers to come to an open debate on the controversial decision to construct yet another temple near the presiding deity.
